Lihoong has been very patient with me, providing clear guidance and constant encouragement during my sessions at Retrofit, Tampines Plaza. As a 74-year-old with balance issues and leg weakness, I truly appreciate that she takes the time before every session to understand my physical condition and carefully tailor the exercises to target my affected areas. Throughout the sessions, Lihoong is attentive, gentle, and reassuring, which gives me confidence and peace of mind while exercising. I have also noticed an improvement in my mobility and stability since training with her. I am grateful for her professionalism, dedication, and genuine care for elderly clients like myself.

When I first met Joyce, my right ankle was in pain due to a collapsed arch, as I have severe flat feet. I was not able to stand or walk properly. Joyce started me on a series of exercises. Initially, I felt pain in my right ankle doing the exercises. And I was not confident the exercises would work. But Joyce was positive. Through her methodology, dedication, patience and encouragement, I was eventually able to perform the exercises without pain. My right ankle feels much better now and I am able to stand and walk normally. Thank you very much, Joyce. I look forward to working with you to strengthen my ankles and core further.

Visited Core Concepts again due to my tennis elbow, and had Valerie assigned as my therapist to train on strengthening. She was very patient with me and taught me multiple exercises and stretches that have made a difference to my elbow pain. She also checked in to see how I was doing and was contactable when I felt my pain worsen at certain times. She is truly knowledgeable and very friendly, and makes the sessions fun! Working with Valerie was also a joy as she has such a bright personality. She patiently explained the exercises I was recommended to do, and was always happy to answer any questions I had. She was very encouraging and also looked out for any signs of discomfort I had when trying out the exercises, and gently correctly my form to ensure I was doing them correctly.

Went for multiple exercise sessions with Valerie for my wrist and ankle pain, coupled with physio sessions with core concepts. I really like the holistic approach they have, because I initially only thought of coming for wrist pain, but when I mentioned my shoulder and knee pain, Valerie was able to tailor exercises to help me to deal with or improve on the pain I had. On top of that, Valerie also taught me an exercise to improve my golf swing upon hearing that I was learning golf and trying to improve my swing. Overall, had a really good experience here, despite how tiring the exercises are.

Joyce Wang , my exercise specialist has been instrumental in helping me recover from a frozen shoulder for the third time . With her expert guidance, I have seen significant progress . Joyce takes a hands-on approach, demonstrating exercises & correcting my form to ensure I’m doing them safely & effectively. She also records my sessions & provides detailed notes on the exercises & sets I should be doing each week . What impresses me most is her willingness to listen to my feedback & adapt her approach to suit my needs. She introduced new exercises that have greatly aided my recovery. One valuable piece of advice that really stuck with me was her reminder to continue the exercises even after discharge to prevent relapse - a crucial tip I wasn’t aware of during my previous two episodes. Joyce’s dedication, compassion & commitment to helping me achieve my goal have been truly exceptional. I started training with Joyce for functional training after completing my physiotherapy for lower back pain. Joyce is very encouraging, patient, and attentive. Was under the guidance of Yann after coming in for an ankle injury. Yann was very meticulous in her explanations and demonstrations, and often went the extra mile to make sure my form movements were correct and helpful in my rehabilitation. Joyce Wang has been helping me with exercises for more than 15 sessions. I came to her with several injuries and was unsure if I could get better and stronger. She is very attentive, caring, encouraging, kind and super patient. Even when I was injured during one holiday, she was so kind to return my WhatsApp messages and advised me what to do. Joyce plans the exercises according to my injuries. She writes down the exercises on her laptop and even takes videos so that I can do it at home. She revises and corrects when I meet her for the session. Though I have not fully recovered from my injuries, I am feeling much better, stronger and more confident of moving around. So to TEACHER JOYCE: THANK YOU VERY, VERY, MUCH. The words you usually say to me - comes to you many folds - NICE, VERY GOOD, YOU DID IT AND YAY!!

The location is ideal for me, so glad there is a new branch in the east. I have had several weeks of functional training to help me prolong the use of my knees. The first session is all about agreeing on a goal for the training, a plan is then designed specifically for my goal. Kelvin has been pivotal in helping me progressively improve my strength to help me get to my goal. I am really impressed by his experience in knowing where my bad habit tendencies are and able to simplify his instructions to help me understand. I have also received help from Valerie and she has an eye for details, able to always give me practical advise on how I can continue with my daily at-home exercises, so happy to have Valerie at the Tampines branch

Joyce taught very well on strengthen my muscles. Previously I got low back pain and had no clue on solving the problem. Joyce guided me on exercising core muscles to compensate back muscles. It works very well. No more such problem.

Knowing is half the battle won, and the knowledge and skills that Li Hoong imparted to me during trial session I had with her, helped me make important changes for my health. I went for a trial session with Li Hoong in Feb 2025. The body composition analysis results was frankly a shock to me, and an important wake-up call. I thought was doing things kinda right. But Li Hoong counselled me during the trial session patiently and offered insightful suggestions, tailored to a women like me nearing menopause. It has helped me make critial but managable, and sustainable adjustments to my exercise routine and diet. Buildling on Li Hoong's advice (from just one session!), I managed to reduce body fat by about 8% as of early May. I am still on the journey to building a stornger body, but the results have been so encouraging. So fellow ladies, it is good to know your body, but equally important is to find a knowledgable coach like Li Hoong to guide you on your own personal journey and set you on the right path to a healthy and strong body and life!

I had been attending regular sessions with Carmelle, sport specialist/therapist of Retrofit , for more than a year. Am very glad to be attended by Carmelle, who’s not only experienced but also very engaging and friendly. Her tips/advice to strengthen my neck, shoulder and core muscles are practical with improvisation of stuff that one could find at home, instead of buying expensive exercise tools. It’s a pity that she has to be relocated out of Parkway Parade outlet soon. I have been seeing Carmelle, my functional trainer, on a weekly basis for a few months. She was assigned to me by my physiotherapist to help with my recovery after knee surgery. She was very mindful of the limits on the range of motion that my knee could handle and tailored all my exercises to my ability, taking into account my doctor’s and physio’s advice which I had relayed to her. Most importantly for me, she helped me to work towards my goal of being able to survive all the walking and climbing I would have to do for a holiday in Greece. The exercises she planned for me were in gradual increasing level of difficulty, making it easy for me to slowly recover and regain mobility. After 2 months with her, I managed to climb 100 floors in a single morning while in Greece 🙂 What I appreciate most about Carmelle is that she makes every session fun. She always starts with a quick recap and finds out how I’ve been doing for the week before she moves on to the exercises which she modifies on the spot according to my responses. Throughout the session, she constantly checks on my condition and tests my abilities in order to better tailor the subsequent exercises. At the end, she does a quick review and summary and always ends with an encouraging note. She doesn’t sting on time and is always willing to hang around for a quick chat after the sessions. Thanks for all your help Carmelle!

Li Hoong was a great trainer. In just 5 sessions, I was able to see improvement in my body such as not having to wear my knee guards while walking and feeling more strength in other parts of my body. I was introduced to Retrofit functional exercises through my physiotherapist, Jatin (from Core Concepts). I got to work with Joyce from Retrofit. Working with Joyce has brought a lot of ‘Joy’ hahaa, with her friendly demeanour and cheerful smile. She is patient, understanding and willing to explore and explain the different exercises according to your requirements. Hee knowledge of the different functional exercises and the function of the different groups of muscles and the way to work it is impressive. I feel confident working with Joyce, and there is a marked improvement in my form, balance and endurance after our sessions.

I’ve been going to Core Concepts Tampines and working with Pei Ting. She has been really great in helping me manage my pain and coming up with exercises that is suited to my needs. She is always very friendly and non judgemental. She makes the session fun but also ensure I push myself.

My Journey with Carmelle After procrastinating for almost 2 years of deteriorating health and mobility I definitely needed ‘help’ in regaining my mobility.The dream objective is to go on Trans Siberian journey with my spouse in 2026. I met Sylvia on 2nd August and was impress with her motivational discussion on my objective.She assigned Carmelle Hayag to conduct therapy lessons which lasted 45 minutes per session once weekly. My mobility improvements improved almost instantaneously. I could do sit ups,walk steadily,not fall,get up from the floor . The sessions with Hayagvat Dore Concept premises were competent and professional.Carmelle has been very supportive and compassionate and definitely competent.The next objective is balancing and climbing stairs . I was sceptical about physiotherapy but after sessions building my glutes I am a firm believer on the benefits of professional and systematic approach to regaining mobility again. Joyce is a positive and cheerful trainer who consistently goes above and beyond to ensure I reach my goals. Her instructions are clear, and she takes the time to explain each exercise thoroughly. What impresses me most is her willingness to assist me even outside of office hours and on weekends! Was assigned to Val for functional training since I tore my PCL. With her in depth knowledge and expertise in a lot of areas stemming from exercise sciences, she has helped me make a full recovery back to sports. Also is very easily approachable if I have any queries 🙂

Ms Li Hoong, thru her training sessions, makes me aware of my weaker areas. She taught me ways to strengthen my muscles and also ways to climb up stairs to aviod knee pain. Thank you!

Was having my second phase of rehabilitation program (exercises rehab) with Joyce! She is indeed professional in what she does! She checked my previous exercises and pointed out what is wrong and what can be improved, she is also able to improvise those designated exercises on the spot when something is not going too well on my side. Able to clear my doubts and questions in an intellectual way or even in layman's term 👍🏻 Glad to have her as my physiotherapist! Ps: Very appreciated your effort to speak to me with some Chineses in between from time to time 😀
